Ho Ho Ho Everybody!
It may or may not be a surprise to you, but winter is my favorite time of year. Despite all of the doom and gloom from the double whammy that is English weather and the recession, there is still a gleaming ray of hope that some of us like to call Christmas. Christmas - that heartening gap between the pressures of semester one and the onset of exams - is definitely worth celebrating. And what better way to do it than with a slap up meal and drinks with your fellow computer scientists? The warm, cuddly, friendly Computer Science society has teamed up with the formidable DCS task force to lay on a Christmas Party for all CS students to attend. So what makes the KCLCS Party so Special? I'm glad you asked. It's not just the food fit for royalty we're providing, it's not just the drinks, it’s not even the fantastic River Room setting, the crackers, or even the prizes we're giving away - it’s an opportunity to mingle with your fellow students, tutors and teachers. You may think I'm crazy for even suggesting that - but trust me, they are a good bunch of characters, and getting to know your teachers and tutors is something that can prove to be very useful, especially once you get to second and third year and need help and advice from them on a one to one basis. We'll also follow up on the year old tradition of awarding a prize for the best first and second year lecturer, and a Staff vs. Student quiz so come along and get involved. So, to the important part: Time Dinner will be available from 5pm till late Thursday 17th December. We hope that most people will come at around 6 ready for the awards etc. at 7. Location We’ve managed to book out the River Room which is one of the nicest function rooms in the King’s Building. It’s next to Chapters. Price £10. All inclusive. Food. Drinks. Prizes. Raffle. Mingling. Cracker. Menu (inc. Halal and Vegetarian) : • Smoked salmon blini • Turkey sate with chilli & cranberry dip • Filo basket with duck and champagne terrine • Mushroom, sage and onion brushetta • Butternut squash and stilton tart • King Prawn Skewers • Mediterranean Bruschetta • Mini mince pie and whipped brandy cream • Soft Drinks and Alcohol included Prizes Come and find out! What are you waiting for? We only have 50 tickets available so don't miss out - contact your year representatives Mun - 07908627217 (3rd Year) Leo - 07711666651 (2nd Year) Kripika - 07901002629 (1st Year) Remember that its the people who make the party - so make the effort and bring your game faces. Depending on the success of this event we will be hosting more parties and events for your entertainment, so lets start the year off with a bang!! Enjoy yourselves, KCLCS |
